Simon Tedeschi is a wonderful performer whose passion and personality comes through in the performance – live or recorded. Listening to his CD feels like you’re there live and, for me, it can’t get much better than that.

The Gershwin & Me CD has been my desk buddy on rotation this week and I haven’t tired of it yet. The music reaches out of the speakers and pulls me in.

I love this quote on the philosophy page of his website and it is why we’re so passionate about you listening to music rather than just reading or hearing someone talk about it:

Sometimes when I’m asked what I feel about a particular piece of music or music in general, I tend to be circumspect in my response as I feel that music is a medium that should be listened to – generally not talked about. – Simon Tedeschi

There are 14 tracks with just over an hour of playing time. Six of the tracks have been arranged, two by Tedeschi (Summertime and I Loves You, Porgy), two by Grainger (Loved Walked In and The Man I Love), one by Jarrett (Someone To Watch Over Me) and one by Grusin (Nice Work If you Can Get It). The final track Rhapsody in Blue was performed with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and recorded live – it is great to hear applause at the end of a CD when you’re thinking the same thing.

Simon Tedeschi is touring for the CD. He’ll be performing at The Hayden Orpheum in Cremorne on May 5th followed by the screening of An American in Paris. Other tour details weren’t available at the time of publication.
