Australian Haydn Ensemble: Haydn and London
10 March @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm AEDT
Experience London as it was in Haydn’s day …..
Haydn was a respected celebrity by the time he made his way to London in 1795. To celebrate his influence on the city’s musical life, we launch 2018 with this all-Haydn program.
The season opens with Haydn’s beautiful London Flute Trio, and concludes with his famous London Symphony arranged for chamber ensemble by his dear friend, Johann Salomon.
The program also features his enthralling String Quartet Op. 74 No. 3, The Rider. This work was written for his friend Count Apponyi of Vienna, but was premiered in London at the Hanover Square Rooms’concerts with Salomon leading the quartet.
