Bach in the Dark | Cello and Choir of St James
21 May 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm AEST
This live-streaming concert is a very special one coming to you from Sydney’s oldest church – St James, King Street.
Rachel Scott (cello) is delighted to be joined by the choir of St James, their conductor, Warren Trevelyan-Jones, and organist Alistair Nelson, for a night that will be truly beautiful.
The night will be full of moments to make your heart soar, lift your spirits, and make you smile.
The choir have appeared a number of times over the years in the crypt, and they are an audience favourite! The program will include a motet by Bach, an amazing piece by John Tavener for cello and choir (called ‘Svyati’), some music by Pablo Casals – there’ll be something for every music lover! Rachel was lucky enough to play a concert with the choir in March, and they sounded glorious. In fact, a reviewer wrote “The choir has returned to performance after the COVID hiatus sounding better than ever before” and she couldn’t agree more!
The concert will also be coming from the church of St James, King Street, Sydney. The acoustics there are incredible, and they have some really top-notch streaming equipment, so the visuals will also be wonderful.
