BackStage Music is an artist-run series of concerts in the inner city of Sydney. At each concert, BackStage Music presents an early career artist alongside an established artist or ensemble in back to back sets of innovative, challenging and exciting music. Join us in the hidden laneways of Darlinghurst @ creative space 99 for our third gig in the inaugural 2017 series featuring Symbioses + Elia Bossard.
Symbioses is a travelling concert series curated by soprano Jane Sheldon. It was launched in Australia in 2014. At each Symbiosis Jane invites two instrumentalists to join her to present music for duo and trio, with a focus on works of the present and of the 20th-century avant-garde.
These hour-long programs are designed to cast a light on the symbiotic nature of chamber music performance: breathing together, thinking together, witnessed at close range by the listeners.
This BackStage Symbioses IV program will feature Jane with guest artists Lamorna Nightingale (flutes) and Bree van Reyk (vibraphone).
The emerging artist for this BackStage gig is Elia Bossard. Elia is a flutist and stage designer whose work is a provocation of the relationship classical music has with the world outside the score and performance conventions….
