Bel a cappella’s SPEM in ALIUM
15 September 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm AEST
Bel a cappella, under the direction of Anthony Pasquill, will present their next ‘Come and Sing’ project in the stunning acoustics of Sydney’s Queen Victoria Building, under the dome.
Singers all over Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne are joining together in one morning to rehearse and perform Thomas Tallis’ epic surround-sound composition Spem in alium, as well as one of the most impressive achievements in Renaissance polphony, Alessandro Striggio’s motet Ecce beatam lucem for 40 independent voices.
The event will consist of a morning rehearsal followed by a public performance in the QVB at 2pm. Friends and supporters can come and listen at the QVB as this will be open to the public.
- Thomas Tallis: Spem in alium
- Alessandro Striggio: Ecce beatam lucem
- William Byrd: Laudibus in sanctis
- Thomas Tomkins: O God, the proud are risen against me
