Bowral Autumn Music Festival | Aura Go and Acacia Quartet
27 March 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm AEDT$10 – $45
Amy Beach was one of the most celebrated composers of the 19th and 20th centuries, but have you heard of her? Like Fanny Mendelssohn, who was banned by her own father from publishing her compositions, and Clara Schumann who, due to social constraint believed ‘a woman must not desire to compose’, Amy Beach was told her flourishing concert career must stop once she wed her husband.
In spite of these restrictions, these three remarkable women wrote over 700 works between them. BAMF’s ensemble in residence, Acacia Quartet and pianist Aura Go are proud to dedicate their concert to these exceptional women, all brilliant pianists and composers in their day.
