Caribe’ – A Cuban Celebration
3 February @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm AEDT$30
“It is important to see and hear rumba live. It exemplifies the way Cuban people walk, how they behave, how they live.” – Justo Pelladito
Come and join us for a dynamic night of Cuban music and dance with a star studded ten piece band featuring the acclaimed Cuban dancer Adrian Medina. An offshoot of the very popular Palacio de la Rumba, Caribé is an ambitious and exciting dance and music program of Cuban folkloric rumba, punto, danzón and bolero alongside classic Cuban styles: cha cha chá, guaracha and mambo.
This will be the first time Cuban artists living in Sydney have combined with Australian musicians to create a presentation that showcases the talents of all and celebrates Cuba’s rich Latin Caribbean culture. Caribé combines the exceptional talents of Sydney-based Cuban dancer Adrian Medina and ten of Palacio de la Rumba’s musicians including:
Alister Spence – piano, Stan Valacos – bass, Kent Windress – percussion, Danny Carmichael – trumpet, Lee Mciver – trumpet, Julian Gough – saxophone, Gai Bryant – saxophone, Paul Weber – trombone, Colin Burrows – trombone
