Beautiful Trios & Duos from the Classical Era
3 December 2017 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm AEDT
Tickets: Adults $25 – Concession $15 – Family $60 – inc. cake and coffee
Christine Draeger – flute, Susan Blake – cello and John Martin – piano invite you to come along and hear some beautiful duos and trios from the classical era.
Three of the pieces, by Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven, were written in the 1790s. There are earlier pieces by Veracini and JC Bach. Plus a work by CPE Bach who Mozart famously called “the father of us all”.
Christine has arranged Mozart’s Adagio and Allegro K594 (originally for mechanical organ) for flute, cello and piano. If you have only heard the mechanical organ version you will be surprised by how operatic it is, with hints of Cosi fan tutte and The Magic Flute.
Christine and John have worked together as a duo since 2008. They have given many recitals at FluteTree and across Sydney. They have also made several studio recordings for ABC radio. Their repertoire ranges from classical and early romantic sonatas through to some of the more lyrical and neo-romantic duos of the 20th century. They are delighted to be joined by cellist Susan Blake for this concert.
