Collegium Musicum Choir: And on Earth, Peace

28 October @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm AEDT

Tickets: $25/$22/$18.50

The Collegium Musicum Choir’s second program for the year includes the liturgical works of Alexander Grechaninov and Anton Bruckner. Lesser known than his tutors, Arenky and Rimsky-Korsakov, Grechaninov composed over 200 works, including 44 liturgical masses. His Mass ‘Et in Terra Pax,’ composed at the ripe old age of 76, speaks not of the terrors and agony of war, but instead reflects the composers hope for the future. Bruckner proclaimed his joyous Mass ‘Te Deum’ his favourite and greatest work. Based on a 4th Century Christian Hymn, the Mass is regularly performed in Roman Catholic, Anglican, and Lutheran denominations, on occasions of special rejoicing and celebration. The Burgundian Consort will offer the works of Grechaninov’s contemporary, Anton Arenksy, performing his Three Vocal Quartets for voice and cello.
