Con Spirito June Lunchtime Concert

28 June 2019 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm AEST

The Con Spirito series of Friday lunchtime concerts, which has been running for almost twenty years, take place in Saint Andrew’s Uniting Church on the corner of Ann and Creek Streets in the city.  The series is scheduled for the fourth Friday of each month from March to October and is designed to provide mainly tertiary level music students with a performing opportunity different from that offered by their institution.  Students from the Queensland Conservatorium (QCGU) and the University of Queensland’s School of Music are regular performers in this series.  A wide range of music is presented and performers include singers, string players, wind players (both individual and ensembles), pianists and organists.

In this June edition, Soprano Peta Blyth, accompanied by John Woods, presents arias from “Rodelinda” by Handel, “La cambiale di matrimonio” by Rossini, and Gounod’s “Cing-mars” and songs by Henri Duparc, 3 songs from “Nuits d’Ete” by Berlioz, and “Old Sir Faulk” by William Walton.
