Clocked Out welcomes Perth composer and reed instrument specialist Lindsay Vickery to Lagavulin at The Piano Mill. Reuniting for this unique collaboration, Clocked Out and Vickery use clarinet, saxophone, prepared piano, percussion and electronics to explore realtime graphic-based musical scores and site-specific improvisation. This is the second concert in Clocked Out’s Ensemble In Residence series at Bruce and Jocelyn Wolfe’s beautiful Lagavulin chamber music hall.
Lindsay Vickery is a prolific composer, clarinettist, and saxophonist who has worked across Europe, the USA and Asia since 1986. His output includes works for acoustic and electronic instruments in interactive-electronic, improvised or fully notated settings. His music has been described as ‘always intriguing’ The Wire, ‘truly an original voice and his work is one of sustained intensity that resonates in the mind long after the performance is over’ and a ‘master of technological wizardry’ The Australian.
Clocked Out create and produce innovative music, interarts, and intercultural events that extend experimental traditions in engaging and thought provoking ways. They use music as a vehicle to explore central cultural issues such as environmentalism, multi-culturalism, and interactions of science and music. The creative outlet of Vanessa Tomlinson and Erik Griswold, Clocked Out’s diverse output includes original music for percussion and piano, a variety of artistic collaborations, concert series, tours, and festivals. Clocked Out is ensemble in residence at Queensland Conservatorium and artist in residence at Harrigans Lane.
