Desert Song Festival | Olive Pink Opera
16 September 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm AEST
An event every day that begins at 6:30 pm, repeating until 18 September 2021
The ‘Olive Pink Opera’ is a new work created by award-winning Australian Composer and Music Educator Professor Emerita Anne Boyd. The Opera celebrates the extraordinary life of Olive Pink, a woman ahead of her time as an outspoken advocate for Aboriginal rights. The Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir joins Master Musicians, to present the rich heritage of Aboriginal culture and opera to create a transformative arts experience and a new version of opera in Australia.
The Opera will bring together an internationally recognised composer, an iconic Central Australian music festival, the Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir, Master Musicians and a local classical ensemble, to present an innovative way of telling a uniquely Central Australian story through opera. The intercultural and intergenerational Opera cast will provide their audience with a uniquely Central Australian artistic and cultural experience.
