Elder Conservatorium of Music Evening Concert | Fortepiano Recital

10 August 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm ACST

$15 – $25

A rare opportunity to hear a fortepiano live! Its sound is gentler, drier, than the modern concert grand, and capable of great subtlety. Nicholas Mathew, specialist in early pianos, performs some of Beethoven’s early sonatas close to how they would have been heard over 200 years ago.

Performers:

  • Nicholas Mathew | fortepiano

Program:

  • C.P.E. BACH | Rondo in C minor from Kenner und Liebhaber V, Wq. 59 (1785)
  • BEETHOVEN | Piano Sonata in G, Op. 14 No. 2 (1798)
  • BEETHOVEN | Piano Sonata in E, Op. 14 No. 1 (1798)
  • C.P.E. BACH | Free Fantasy in F from Kenner und Liebhaber V
  • BEETHOVEN | Piano Sonata in C minor, Op. 13 (“Pathétique”) (1798)
