Good Friday Musical Meditation
30 March @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm AESTFree – $30
TICKETS: Available at the door from 5.00pm.
We depart from the polyphony of our recent Good Friday offerings and present the searing, intense Seven Last Words from the Cross, by Scottish composer James MacMillan, written for choir and strings.
This powerful work conveys Christ’s final utterances, combined with other liturgical texts, and has been described as spellbinding and achingly expressive.
The programme commences with Renaissance master Tomas Luis de Victoria’s Ecce Quomodum Moritur Justus, which sets the scene for the texts that follow.
Margaret Connolly leads an accomplished ensemble of string players under the baton of Emily Cox, and we are grateful for the artistic direction of Anatoly Frusin in this event.
Off-street parking is available in the church car park on Herbert Street.
