Gondwana World Choral Festival 2019: Great Southern series concert 3 – Toronto Children’s Chorus & Sydney Children’s Choir

The Toronto Children’s Chorus (Canada) and Sydney Children’s Choir (Australia) perform in day three of the Great Southern Series in Verbrugghen Hall, Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Celebrating its 40th Anniversary last year, the Toronto Children’s Chorus is recognised as one of the finest treble choirs in the world. Exemplifying artistic excellence, the choir’s vast repertoire embraces diverse cultures and traditions and covers an extensive range of musical genres. Toronto Children’s Chorus has collaborated with musicians such as the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and commissioned many new Canadian works that have greatly influenced the treble voice repertoire.

Established 30 years ago, the most senior of the The Sydney Children’s Choir is their treble choir made up of girls and boys aged 10-16. They regularly collaborates with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Opera Australia and other leading ensembles. The choir has worked with conductors including Charles Dutoit, Michael Tilson-Thomas, David Robertson and Vladimir Ashkenazy. Performances at high profile events have included the Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony, World Youth Day, Sydney Festival and the YouTube Symphony Orchestra. As well as touring nationally, the choir has performed in Japan, Finland and China presenting their trademark performances of contemporary Australian music to new audiences.

The SCC Young Men’s Choir is an ensemble for boys with changed and changing voices. Most of the choristers in this ensemble have emerged from SCC and bring a high standard of musicianship.
SCC Junior Performing Choir is for children with exceptional musical aptitude who display an inherent enjoyment of choral singing and a real desire and enthusiasm to make music. It is an extension group for choristers aged 8-14.
