Gondwana World Choral Festival 2019: World Showcase concert 1 – Gondwana Choirs, Guangdong Experimental Middle School Choir & Estonian TV Girls’ Choir

Gondwana Latitude 34 (Australia), Gondwan Indigenous Choir (Australia), Guangdong Experimental Middle School (China), and Estonian Television Girls’ (Estonia) choirs perform in the opening World Showcase evening concert in the grand surrounds of Verbrugghen Hall.


The Estonian Television Girls’ Choir of thirty-seven young women aged 13-20, performs a repertoire of religious and secular music from different ages, folk music, modern pop, jazz and vocal-symphonic forms. The choir has performed in most European cities and the US. They have collaborated with renowned Estonian composers Arvo Pärt, Veljo Tormis, Urmas Sisask and Tõnu Kõrvits as well as British composer Roxanna Panufnik and world-renowned America conductor, Eric Whitacre.

The Guangdong Experimental Middle School Choir is a 12-time champion of the World Choir Games. One of the most prominent middle schools in China, the choir has won 13 consecutive championships of the Guangzhou School Chorus Festival and has been awarded the honorary Chinese title of “Model Choir”.

Gondwana Latitude 34 brings together fine young adult voices from across Australia. Their sound is an exciting combination of fresh and vibrant tone sophistication. They perform music that is close to their hearts: new Australian works which capture the mystery and grandeur of our land and display the cultural diversity of the Australian people.
