Rob Hao performs Indie Ditties
11 December 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm AEDT$45 – $75
Hipsterdom in music, dramatic Romanticism, crystalline Impressionism
London-based Australian pianist Rob Hao gives the Australian premiere of Sydney-based composer Nicholas Vines’ extravagant fifty-minute portrayal of contemporary hipster subculture: Indie Ditties.
This fun-filled yet thought-provoking contemporary work is programmed alongside a performance of Frederic Chopin’s Three Mazurkas, Op. 63 and the legendary Ballade No. 1 in G minor, Op. 23, as well as Maurice Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte and his touching tribute to his friends lost in the First World War, Le Tombeau de Couperin.
A thrilling solo piano recital that surveys composers whose works reveal incredibly imaginative, personal and engaged musical voices for their respective times – spanning from the nineteenth century to our modern day.
