Music of exceptional originality by formidably gifted masters of the keyboard: François Couperin, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre – French harpsichordist of extraordinary talent favoured with the patronage of Louis XIV, and one of the earliest eminent woman composers.
Personalities and sentiments are evocatively depicted by the character pieces and a ‘Portrait of Love’ for the beautifully mellow tones of baroque oboe d’amore mixed with viola da gamba.
