The hardships and ecstasies of travel are brought to life in a spine-tingling choral tour de force. From the optimism of setting out, the agonies of exhaustion and despair to the final release at the very end of Europe – the known world – this is, of course, as much a pilgrimage of the soul as of the body.
Path of Miracles was composed for the virtuosic choir, Tenebrae and premiered in the weeks after the July 2005 bombing in London, and at the time was a healing balm to a shattered city. It retains this power to spread peace and light among listeners everywhere.
