Concerts that will excite and inspire
Phoenix Collective is a collaborative recital series involving some of Australia’s most unique, talented and high-profile musicians set in intimate iconic heritage-listed venues across the Central Coast and Sydney.
An initiative of Dan Russell Elliot, the first of four programs is titled “Charm & Tradition” and features Carl Schmidt on piano and Dan Russell on violin.
“Audiences can expect to enjoy the sublime serenity of Arvo Pärt’s Fratres, Mozart’s not-so-common sorrowful side in his E minor sonata, Brahms’ passionate Scherzo and to finish with, the crowning jewel of the violin and piano repertoire, Cesar Franck’s Sonata in A, a work full of beauty, passion and love – written as a wedding present and first performed in 1886 by the famous concert violinist, Eugène Ysaÿe” said Phoenix Collective director & violinist, Dan Russell.
Pianist Carl Schmidt, in this first-time collaboration between Dan Russell and himself says, “audiences will enjoy hearing new life breathed into these works.”
The Phoenix Collective Concert Series offers a feast of different genres, the virtuosic fair of Italian Baroque, the charm of Mozart’s classical genius, the passion of Argentinean tango legend Astor Piazzolla, and the intense emotions of the late romantic and meditative calm of minimalism.
