Préludes [Book 1]

7 April @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm AEST

TICKETS: Full $60 Senior $47 Concession $35

As part the of the Debussy100 project, ANAM is thrilled to have internationally renowned pianist and scholar, Roy Howat lead the ANAM musicians with this gorgeous program of Debussy’s music featuring Book 1 of Preludes.

This program also features the world premiere of Lyle Chan’s Sonata no. 2 (after Debussy Sonata no. 5), part of a commissioned project in which Lyle Chan will compose his own version of the unfinished three sonatas that were to be part of the Six Sonatas for various instruments which Debussy could not complete due to his untimely death.

Debussy100 is a 12-month project to mark the 100th anniversary of the death of Claude Debussy. Led by a collection of national and international pianists, hear the complete piano and chamber music of Claude Debussy, including 100 titled movements for the keyboard.

“Roy Howat possesses the qualities that transform a simple recital into a special event. His playing, a lesson in interpretation and a model of poetry, is of those who can captivate without demagogy, who can illuminate without pedantry.”— La Tribune de Genève
