7 May 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm AEST
William Shakespeare is regarded as the greatest playwright of all time because his stories speak so much to universal human emotion and experiences.
In his comedies, tragedies and histories, he speaks to his audiences about love, revenge, bravery, cowardice, life and death. Is it any wonder then that many famous composers have been inspired by Shakespeare’s work to create music that is equally as dramatic? In this concert, hear a selection of the most powerful and enjoyable works inspired by Shakespeare’s plays from Mendelssohn’s iconic music for A Midsummer Night’s Dream through to Prokofiev’s extraordinary ballet music for Romeo and Juliet.
