St David’s Catherdral | First Signs of Life

9 August 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm AEST

St David’s Cathedral will host the First Signs of Life concert series in August and September 2020. Coordinated by the Cathedral’s Director of Music, Thomas Rimes, these concerts will feature the first public performances of several outstanding Tasmanian-based performers since the beginning of COVID-19 restrictions.

The first concert will feature current and former members of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra: Emma McGrath, Janet Rutherford, Brett Rutherford and Matthew McGrath, along with Thomas Rimes and Jane Edwards performing a program of chamber music and German Lieder featuring Schubert’s brilliant Trout Quintet for piano and strings.

This concert series aims to provide a unique musical experience in an outstanding concert venue for the concert-starved Tasmanian public as well as a much-needed opportunity for local artists to share their talents with the community after the restrictions on concert activities and public gatherings in 2020.

Tickets are limited, so those wishing to attend these very special musical events are advised to book early.  Part of the proceeds supports the Cathedral’s music ministry.
