In a program chosen for its romantic lyricism and drama, Steel City Strings joins forces with Anna da Silva Chen to perform Beethoven’s mighty violin concerto. The string orchestra, augmented with brass, woodwind and percussion, will also present Mozart’s exhilarating Jupiter Symphony, regarded by some as among the greatest symphonies in classical music.
Sydney-born violinist Anna da Silva Chen is recognised as one of Australia’s finest emerging violinists, appearing as a soloist with many of Australia’s major orchestras. Featured as their Artist-in-Residence for two years, Anna performs extensively with the Australia Piano Quartet and has won many awards.
Steel City Strings have recently been acknowledged as a 2019 Art Music Awards winner for their contributions to music in Australia. They won the Award for Excellence in a Regional Area for their activities in 2018 and commitment to new Australian music.
