‘Swell’ is an exciting collaboration between Konzertprojekt and the Organ Department at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Featuring new works for organ, some old favourites and a whole slew of new chamber works, ‘Swell’ is shaping up to be our most ambitious concert yet.
Konzertprojekt is a group of student composers and performers based at the Sydney Conservatorium. We are always writing new works and, subsequently, putting on new concerts. And the Conservatorium is always happy to help out. This is especially the case with ‘Swell’ which, with the graces of the Organ Department, will allow us to step into an excellent performance space: the Verbrugghen Hall, equipped with a full size organ. It’s like a trip to the candy store for us composers. We are very excited about utilising the larger venue for the exploration of sound in space and playing with larger ensembles that we were unable to squeeze into our smaller concerts.
Our strength in Konzertprojekt is in the different styles each composer and performer brings to the table. From Handel to reimagined Bach to contemporary music, ‘Swell’ will be an eclectic and engaging night for our audience.
