Sydney Mozart Society: The Enigma Quartet

Through its concert series, festival appearances and creative collaborations with different performers and composers, the Enigma Quartet has established a reputation for fine technique, intelligent interpretations and dynamic performance style.

The quartet members, Marianne Edwards (violin), Kerry Martin (violin), Elizabeth Woolnough (viola) and Rowena Macneish (‘cello) have an effortless rapport and a warm stage presence that makes their concerts special.

There is great vitality in the programme the quartet members have chosen. They begin with Mozart’s Second Prussian quartet, full of complex textures and vibrant themes. Mendelssohn’s quartet is passionate and romantic. Smetana’s quartet From My Life is autographical music that is both moving and uplifting.
