Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra | Gillham plays Beethoven
24 September 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm AEST
Schubert left just two movements of his Eighth Symphony. Unlike other unfinished works – Mozart’s Requiem, Bruckner’s Ninth – the composer’s death was not the reason for its incompletion (after all, he would later pen a Ninth). The mysterious Unfinished nevertheless made its mark as one of the earliest symphonies composed in the Romantic style. In 1808 Beethoven gave the public première of his Fourth Piano Concerto – his final solo appearance with an orchestra. This performance of Beethoven’s most imaginative concerto showcases acclaimed Australian-born, London-based pianist, Jayson Gillham.
