The Bourbaki Ensemble: Recomposed
4 November @ 2:45 pm - 4:45 pm AEDT
Tickets: $30 General/$20 Concession in advance | $35/$25 at the door
Composer Max Richter described re-composing Vivaldi’s masterpiece as “throwing molecules of the original Vivaldi into a test tube with a bunch of other things, and waiting for an explosion”. The Bourbaki Ensemble are proud to present this new and vibrant reworking of a classic, which has recently topped the itunes classical charts around the World.
Also on the program is ‘Reponse Lutoslawski’ by Bryce Dessner, better known as the guitarist from US art-rock band ‘The National’. Dessner wrote this piece for string ensemble as a response to Lutoslawski’s funeral music, which the Bourbaki Ensemble performed earlier this year.
Completing the show is ‘Night Song’ by Australian legendary composer Peter Sculthorpe.
Come and experience some thrilling string music – a little of what you know and a large helping of something new. All in the dramatic and acoustically wonderful surrounds of St Stephens in Newtown.
