Live music returns to the Peach Black Gallery!
To make up for lost music, we are cramming 3 stunning concerts into one weekend October 16 – 18. The Spring Collective will feature a diverse range of artists, bringing their unique sounds and flavours to the gallery.
The final concert of the series is set in the afternoon of Sunday 18 October, with the addition of delicious and aesthetically beautiful sweets provided by Sweet Lights, Sydney.
Take a fascinating musical trip across Europe as The Marais Project presents songs and instrumental interludes from England, France, Italy, Germany and Sweden. The programme features arias by baroque giants, Monteverdi, Handel and Purcell, alongside works by lesser known composers including the “Swedish Schubert”, Carl Michael Bellman, and Marin Marais. As a special treat the concert will conclude with Folk Music from Sweden.
The Marais Project is a celebration of music for the viola da gamba inspired by Marin Marais, the great French virtuoso viola da gamba performer and composer. Formed by Jennifer Eriksson in 2000, in 2019 the ensemble turned 20. The ensemble’s original aim was to perform the complete works of Marais – a monumental task which is now more than 85% complete. However, over the years they have extended their repertoire beyond the French baroque to include folk music, mediaeval and renaissance repertoire as well as commissioning and recording new Australian works. They are one of the few Australian ensembles with a focus on Swedish music – a product of Eriksson and lutenist Tommie Andersson’s Swedish heritage.
Tickets include a drink, and nibbles. Come sit amongst the artwork of Matteo Bernasconi and soak up the vibrations of live performance, art and community coming together.
Please Note: Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, tickets will be sold as part of a table booking. To ensure social distancing between tables we are running at a substantially reduced capacity and are only able to offer tables of 2 or 4, with a handful of single tickets available.
To help us to manage each concert safely, we will only sell tickets prior to the event, there will not be any door sales. We will be asking you for your details if they are not provided at the time of booking.
Food and nibbles may only be consumed whilst seated. And, as they are included as part of the event, we’ll serve you at the table, so you don’t need to move! (except to cheer *silently* for the wonderful artists)
When attending the event, we ask you to practice physical distancing of 1.5m, both inside the venue and of arrival and exit of the venue. Please do not mingle outside the venue.
And lastly, if you are unwell, please stay home and rest. The music is returning, and you will too, we’ll be ready for you when you’re better!
Finally, thank you for buying a ticket and supporting our amazing artists at a time that is so detrimental for our industry
