The Marais Project: A Bass Affair

17 June @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm AEST

$15.00 - $38

Tickets: Adult $38 | Concession $22 | Student $15

Most early music fans know that the viola da gamba is also known as the bass viol. It is less well known, perhaps, that there is also such a thing as a bass violin! Both the bass viol and bass violin were mainstays in French baroque music. In this concert Marais Project welcome bass violinist and co-founder of Salut! Baroque, Timothy Blomfield, in a program which features a cantata by Montéclair, music by Marais and other works that show off the two instruments. Tim and Jennifer first met when they were students at the Sydney Conservatorium and both went on to study with Dutch virtuoso gambist and baroque cellist, Jaap ter Linden. Jennifer and Timothy are joined by long term Marais Project members soprano Belinda Montgomery and lutenist, Tommie Andersson.
