The exquisite strings of The Metropolitan Orchestra led by Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams return to The Independent Theatre for an atmospheric performance that will shower the audience with music from above in a unique afternoon of sublime music. Opening this atmospheric musical afternoon is Vaughan Williams’ lush Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis. The Metropolitan Orchestra strings, led by Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams will wash the audience in sound from the heavens above utilizing dual ensembles for this visionary fusion of folksong and sacred music. Mozart’s famous and much loved Eine Kleine Nachtmusik will conclude the first half of this intimate performance before TMO welcome principal players Svetlana Yaroslavskaya (flute) and Robyn Botha (viola) to join TMO’s string section for Bloch’s delightful concertina. The afternoon climbs to a sublime pinnacle with Bartok’s dazzling Divertimento for Strings.
