ThoroughBass: Bach in Three
14 July @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm AEST
Johann Sebastian Bach has probably never been more popular than he is today. What is it about his music that is so appealing? He headed a dynasty of exceptionally talented musicians, the most prominent of which are his second son by his first marriage – Carl Philip Emmanuel, and his youngest son, by his second wife – Johann Christian. With a twenty year gap in ages between these three we see a huge difference in the way they each made music, from the intricate and abstruse style of the great JS, to the florid and eccentric Emmanuel, to the lyrically lovely Christian.
