Thoroughbass: The Child in Us
25 November @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm AEDT
This is not children’s music. This is us as adults remembering our childhood – its innocence and confusion, the intensity of joy and disappointment and, sometimes, conflict. Many composers have understood these memories and portrayed them in music. Here are a few: From the film Amélie by Yann Tiersson; Debussy’s Children’s Corner Suite; some Bagatelles by Carl Neilsson; Chick Correa’s Children’s Songs; and a couple of tangos by Astor Piazzola. With Diana Weston (piano, harpsichord) and jazzman John D’Arcy (piano).
