Thoroughbass: The Child in Us
25 November @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm AEDT
This is not children’s music. This is us as adults remembering our childhood – its innocence and confusion, the intensity of joy and disappointment and, sometimes, conflict. Many composers have understood these memories and portrayed them in music. Here are a few: From the film Amélie by Yann Tiersson; Debussy’s Children’s Corner suite; some Bagatelles by Carl Neilsson; Chick Correa’s Children’s Songs; duets by the ever-youthful Ann Carr-Boyd, and a tango or two by Astor Piazzola. With Diana Weston (piano, harpsichord), jazzman John D’Arcy (piano) and Ann Carr-Boyd.
