Too good not to reprise, The Toybox returns in July at Riverside Theatres, Parramatta. Claude Debussy’s little-known children’s ballet La Boîte à joujoux (The Toybox) is transformed from ballet back to story-form by Inara Molinari, accompanied by a small ensemble and various noisy toys (Thoroughbass). An illustrated miniature masterpiece full of microscopic detail, it entrances young and old alike.
Come on a musical journey and discover the magical secrets of the toybox.
As soon as their kids fall asleep, the toys come to life through the magic of Debussy’s music and storytelling! They dance, they play. They are naughty and nice. They fight a battle, but still they live happily ever after in the toybox.
The Toybox sparks imaginations and invites you to get up close to the action and meet some of the earliest musical instruments.
