Cancelled due to COVID-19/Coronavirus precautions
Thoroughbass presents Short Stories with internationally acclaimed pianist Michael Tsalka and Thoroughbass director and harpsichordist Diana Weston.
Duo partners Diana and Michael reveal the stories within the music in informal settings inviting intimacy and connection. They invite you to join them as they journey through the emotional landscape of Schubert’s famous Fantasia in f minor, re-awaken the joy of hearing about Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast and Tom-Thumb from Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite and share Debussy’s fascination with the exotic in Six Epigraphes Antiques.
Both Michael and Diana have had many new works composed for them. True to form, they present some of these varied and unique duets and pieces for piano and harpsichord. Ann Carr-Boyd’s serenely beautiful Moonrise over Lake Argyle, Diana Blom’s sultry tango Night Music and Aspasia Nasopoulou’s mythical Io are but a few – all with their own stories.
