Willoughby Symphony Chamber Series: The Soldier’s Tale
12 August @ 2:30 am - 3:40 pm AEST
The Willoughby Symphony Chamber Series presents their final concert of the year, The Soldier’s Tale.
Set in plush and intimate surrounds, audiences will be treated to a mesmerising performance of Stravinsky’s masterpiece, L’histories du soldat, which is based on the Russian parable of a soldier who trades his fiddle to the devil in return for unlimited economic gain.
Conducted by the renowned Luke Spicer, this theatrical work is enriched with motifs from jazz, folk music and traditional dances, and full of the wit and humour of Stravinsky.
“Our musicians are passionate about sharing their love of music and the Chamber Series is an uplifting and inspirational experience for all who attend,” said Artistic Director, Madeleine Retter. “We look forward to taking you on our next musical journey of beloved works,” she said.
Each seventy-minute concert will be followed by light refreshments and the opportunity to meet the musicians.
