Hear some of the best new talent Australian music has to offer in SERENDIPITY as 2018 ABC Young Performer of the Year finalist, clarinettist Oliver Shermacher joins the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra and conductor Dr Sarah Penicka-Smith for the world premiere of a brand new clarinet concerto by Willoughby Symphony Orchestra’s composer-in-residence Alice Chance, specially commissioned by the orchestra.
You’ll be treated to the music of one of the country’s newest rising stars, as the winning work from the Fine Music 102.5 and Willoughby Symphony Young Composer Award is heard for the first time.
These young Australian composers are certainly in good company, with neglected master Louise Farrenc’s Overture No.2, Op.24, Claude Debussy’s haunting Première rhapsodie for Clarinet and Orchestra and Brahms’ early triumph, the Serenade No.2, Op.16, completing a program that’s absolutely not to be missed.
