Mountain Concerts and Scenic World Blue Mountains are thrilled to present the world premiere of Leonard the Lyrebird: A Musical Story.

Held at Scenic World in the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains, Leonard the Lyrebird: A Musical Story is an original composition by acclaimed composer Ian Munro based on the children’s book, Leonard the Lyrebird.

Written by Jodie McLeod and illustrated by Eloise Short Design, both Blue Mountains locals, Leonard the Lyrebird is an Australian bush animal story about friendship, bravery and being yourself.

See and hear the popular children’s book come to life for the world-first classical music performance, featuring award-winning concert pianist Grace Kim, Opera Australia Orchestra principal cellist Teije Hylkema and associate principal clarinet Philip Green.

Narrated by the composer himself, this original Australian classical work will enchant audiences of all ages with an imaginative blend of storytelling, instrumentation and illustration.

Don’t miss out on a number of live performances, held at Scenic World Blue Mountains, perched on the escarpment overlooking the majestic Jamison Valley and the Three Sisters.

Limited tickets are available.

Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Leonard the Lyrebird: A Musical Story is proudly supported by Scenic World and the Blue Mountains City of the Arts Trust.
