YAMATO: The Drummers of Japan
17 August @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm AEST$30 – $40
A world never seen before, music never heard before … awaken all five senses!
YAMATO, a group of dozens of musicians, start their performance by hitting a Japanese taiko drum made from a 400 year-old tree, moving their whole bodies to strike the drum with everything in their souls, creating a powerful surge of energy. YAMATO was formed in 1993, debuting at a Shinto shrine festival in the group’s hometown and in 2018 celebrated their 25th anniversary having performed to almost 8 million people in over 50 countries.
Passion, their latest show, is brought to the stage with the intent to create an unbreakable bond with the audience, transmitting vital charge and overwhelming passion. Like a strong and sturdy heartbeat, YAMATO attempts to create the energy of life and envelop the audience and performers with the powerful beat of the Wadaiko (Japanese drum). The group believe that the most important element in the performances is the exchange of energy with the audience and in this performance YAMATO’s passion can be clearly seen unfolding on the stage.
YAMATO use passion to confront tradition, and the goal of their performances is to light the fire of the passion held within our bodies. Their performance, featuring 16 incredible percussionists who move on stage with endless energy, has received rave reviews and is an experience not to be missed!
