AHE is excited to present international pianist Melvyn Tan in a program inspired by the beauty and romance of classical Paris. Tan is a pioneer of performance on historical instruments and renowned for his ‘delicacy and peerless, silvery virtuosity’. He will be supported with the Ensemble in its full orchestral configuration.



  • Symphony Op. 11, No. 2 in D major (Australian premiere)

By the legendary African Parisian violinist, director, swordsman, soldier and composer known as ‘The Black Mozart’. Director of the Paris Opera, he was also responsible for the commission of Haydn’s highly acclaimed Paris Symphonies.


  • Concerto for Keyboard No. 18 K. 456 in B-flat major

This concerto written by Mozart for the Parisian pianist, Maria Theresa von Paradis.


  • Symphony No. 85 in B-flat major

Known as ‘La Reine’ (The Queen) and dedicated to Marie Antoinette.
