The Gartner/Herscovitch Duo present a program of sonatas for cello and piano and the premiere of a new work by Peter Dart.
Geoffrey Gartner and Daniel Herscovitch are longtime fixtures of the Australian chamber music scene. Following on from their 2016 performance of Chopin’s Cello Sonata they will team up again to present a program featuring another large-scale masterpiece of the romantic era, Brahms’ Cello Sonata in F major. The program also includes a new work by Australian composer, Peter Dart. His virtuosic Suite was written specially for Gartner and Herscovitch, both long-time champions of new music. Prolific recording artists, their critically acclaimed recording of Wolfgang Steffen’s Diagramm has just been released on the Biodiversity label.
