The Australia Piano Quartet has been Ensemble in Residence at the University of Technology Sydney since 2012.

The Quartet members have a busy schedule with a concert series presented by the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Recital Centre, plus performances in Europe and Asia, including at the prestigious Wigmore Hall. They have commissioned over 20 new piano quartets from Australian composers and will shortly release their recording of Mozart’s works for piano quartet.

In this concert guest violinist Andrew Haveron joins Quartet members Daniel de Borah (piano), Thomas Rann (‘cello) and James Wannan (viola) in a programme that is both elegantly nuanced and breathtakingly exhilarating.

Program

  • Mozart Piano quartet in E-flat, K 452 (after quintet for piano and winds)
  • Mozart Piano quartet no 1 in G minor, K 478
  • Schumann Piano quartet in E-flat, op 47
