DESCRIPTION:Join us for À Deux\, a recital featuring a2. orchestra founders Josh Spirek (Double Bass) and Aiden Labuschagne (Oboe). Built around the rare pairing of oboe and double bass\, with piano accompaniment\, this program explores a corner of classical music that’s rarely heard. \nAlongside works by Mendelssohn\, Mozart\, Bach\, Vanhal\, and Britten\, the duo will present a specially commissioned world premiere by Marcel Howell\, and the Australian premiere of Goplerud’s “Schubert’s Trout Served Four Ways.” The duo will also be performing “The Velocity of Angels”\, a piece they premiered back in 2022 by West Australian composer Nick Kyriakacis. \nThe concert highlights the duo’s long-standing collaboration\, both on and off the stage\, offering a glimpse into their musical and personal partnership that sparked the creation of a2.
