WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO | This series, introduced in our classikON What’s ON (subscribe here), shares our Ambassadors thoughts at this time. They are voices of the audience, with a range of knowledge and history with music, for some music is their life and others it is an escape from their life.
Without a daily four hour commute to Sydney Conservatorium, I’ve been able to focus on learning Italian with a private tutor and in online classes – all via Zoom! I’m also attending my usual singing lessons via Zoom and I’ve discovered that they’re surprisingly quite productive and technique focused. And, the sound quality on my teacher’s end is apparently quite good!
Another new thing has been performing online! I hosted a recital with my pianist friend Su Cho. Next time we do an online concert, you’ll see classikON share it.
I’ve been performing with musicians around the world with the Musical Solidarity Project.
And, I’ve been enjoying Sydney Chamber Opera’s “Breaking Glass” performance of a quadruple-bill of Australian operas by Australian composers – published on Sydney Chamber Opera’s site.
With performances suspended, my other skills have come to the fore. I’ve been working for Steel City Strings in helping manage and promote their fundraiser for their online recital coming in July. It’s so encouraging to see so much support for a local group.
