Are you longing for the stage? Well, Sydney Eisteddfod are longing to watch you perform!
Now in its 89th year, the Sydney Eisteddfod is emerging from two years of COVID disruptions to once again host live events in their 2022 Festival.
Taking over from retiring CEO, Piroozi Desai-Keane OAM after 40 years with the organisation, Sydney Eisteddfod’s new General Manager, Annette Brown promises to bring her drive and passion to support the young performing artists of Australia and expand Sydney Eisteddfod’s impact on the youth development space.
2022 activities will revolve around the presentation of the annual competitive performing arts festival, running from May to September, with a program of just under 350 classical and contemporary events. During this period, the festival will provide performance opportunities for singers, dancers, actors, musicians, composers, bands, choirs and orchestras in seventeen venues across the Sydney area.

An incredible number of entrants (in fact over 2.5 million!) have performed on Sydney Eisteddfod stages over the years, competing for leisure, cash prizes or scholarships for future study. It now attracts over 35,000 entrants, who perform to an audience of over 170,000 people.
On top of that, each year, over $400,000 worth of cash, scholarships and prizes are to be won.
Sydney Eisteddfod operates with a small staff and an army of dedicated volunteers who are without doubt the lifeblood of the organisation. It exists through the generosity of corporate sponsors and private citizens plus the income it derives from entry fees, ticket sales at its venues and advertising on its website and in its annual program.
With categories in Dance, Drama, Music or Song, Sydney Eisteddfod presents amazing performance opportunities which promote lifelong engagement with the performing arts. Scholarship events across Opera, Ballet, Instrumental and Piano offer vital experience for artists looking to build professional performance careers. The winners of these principal events are provided with generous financial aid which enables them to explore their passions through professional overseas or Australian study.
Whether you are an aspiring ballerina wanting to kickstart your career, a young pianist wanting to perform to an audience, a hopeful newsreader in the making, you name it, Sydney Eisteddfods have something just right for you in the 2022 Festival.
