The recently released Blue Silence with the Acacia Quartet performing the complete works for string quartet by Elena Kats-Chernin is a wonderful blend of classical and jazz sounds. The double CD of short works with great titles like: Drinking Song, Russian Rag, Silver Eucalypt and Moody Tango…
The launch was an entertaining and engaging night with the wonderful composer Lyle Chan being MC. The Sydney Philharmonia Rehearsal Room in Millers Point was filled with an eager audience excited about hearing selections from the CD and helping Acacia Quartet celebrate (and enjoy some Catherine Vale Wines).
Lyle invited members of the audience to spin the ‘Wheel of Elena’ that had the 28 short works that are on the CD.
Elena Kats-Chernin told stories about the background of the work selected on the ‘Wheel of Elena’ and then the Acacia Quartet performed it.
