3 New Concert Series – Live at Yours launches 2022

World class music on your doorstep

With three new concert series in Sydney Live at Yours, an ambitious, musician-led initiative by internationally recognised Australian conductor Vladimir Fanshil and acclaimed soprano Eleanor Lyons, is thrilled to present its first full season in 2022.

When concert halls closed during the pandemic, Live at Yours began presenting world class artists in personal, intimate settings that were COVID-safe. This style proved very popular with audiences and they have now performed 85 concerts.

In 2022, Live at Yours will offer more concerts in this setting, to capture the new post COVID world where life continues at a different pace. As Fanshil observes, “We find ourselves in the new normal where life seems to have slowed; where music has again become the fireplace around which we gather; where low light, Chopin and body heat combine to form ephemeral moments in intimate spaces…”

There will also be a special focus in 2022 to invite a younger audience to enjoy world class performances and learn more about classical music. “I was inspired by Sunday concerts at the theatre in St Petersburg, Russia, where families brought their children in their ‘Sunday best’ to experience live music. My hope is to see Australian families bringing their children to enjoy music together at our Concert and Cake series!” Vladmir Fanshil

Season 2022 Concert Details:

Concert and Cake Sundays: Independent Theatre

Every month at the charming Independent Theatre in North Sydney, there will be an incredible line-up of artists normally found only in the major concert halls of Australia and Europe for audiences to enjoy, along with exquisite cakes from Madame & Yves patisserie.

Children aged 5-15 will receive free entry when accompanied by an adult to encourage a culture of concert going from a young age.

The 2022 season opens in January with a lyrical summer concert: ‘D’Amore Sospiro’ sung by soprano Eleanor Lyons and tenor Andrew Goodwin featuring arias and duets inspired by love. The Kristian Winther quartet will play Fanny Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky in March. Then in April rising star cellist Richard Narroway with pianist Vatche Jambazian will present the ‘Psychedelic cello’ with pieces by Bach, Debussy Shostakovich and Australian Tilman Robinson.

In winter, cellist Teije Hylkema and Black Tulip Trio will perform their crossover project Bach to Bolling which fuses jazz and a Bach cello suite. Then a flamenco concert by ‘Bandaluzia’ as well as a highlight concert for families with Andrew Haveron and Simon Tedeschi presenting ‘Ferdinand the Bull in concert’. We will host a thrilling rising star of marimba from Turkey, Elman Mecid, in a virtuosic programme culminating in Piazzolla’s Histoire du Tango with violinist Ben Adler.

There will also be two piano recitals; ‘Recharge my soul’ performed by Daniel de Borah with music by Bach and Schubert, and ‘From Odessa with Love’, a romantic programme with international pianist Alexey Botvinov in September.

Concerts at The Great

The Great Synagogue concerts in the CBD open in February with a soulful programme of Rachmaninov and Bruch performed by Konstantin Shamray and Umberto Clerici, reviving the heart of the city with live music. In addition, the synagogue choir will perform the original Kol Nidrei in Hebrew before it is played in Bruch’s arrangement by the soulful sound of Umberto’s cello.

The May concert will feature an original project of Bach cello suites juxtaposed with Bolling’s jazz suite for a fun and vibrant evening of solo cello by Teije Hylkema and the Black Tulip Jazz Trio. Simon Tedeschi and George Washingmachine will take us out for a winter night of Gershwin in July and the final concert at the Great will weave a programme of folk tales and legends by piano trio of Oliver Shermacher, Anna da Silva Chen and Vatche Jambazian.

Salon at Mecca

The Mecca series in Alexandria’s favourite cafe-roastery will mirror the Independent Theatre concerts for those who like a more casual approach with a glass of natural wine in hand and a mezze plate to share with friends in a modern, industrial style setting. This is a unique series as it brings world class artists into an intimate setting of only 50 guests, in the style of a modern day ‘salon concert’ complete with canapés and drinks.’

Live at Yours also proud and excited to bring their artists to regional NSW audiences on six regional tours throughout the year.

Special price tickets will be offered for under 35’s to encourage all ages to enjoy the finest music making together.
